Brushing your teeth is extremely important for the health of your gums, teeth, and even plays a role in the health of your whole body. While the practice is now quite common, would you be surprised to learn that there are a few things many of us could do better when it comes to brushing?
You should brush your teeth for two minutes at a time so you can adequately reach every tooth. Brushing well is incredibly important, as inadequate brushing actually does very little for your smile. You should brush twice a day, remembering to brush gently and with a soft-bristled brush.
It’s also important that you brush at the right time. You see, if you brush right after you eat, you could actually damage your teeth. You see, after you eat your enamel can be softened, especially if you have consumed anything acidic. You should wait for at least 30 minutes after you eat so that your enamel can harden again.
If you’re interested in keeping your mouth clean and healthy, please remember that brushing your teeth alone won’t be enough. Regardless of how well you brush, please remember to floss every day and to schedule an appointment with our team at least once every six months. During these biannual cleanings, our team will remove plaque and bacteria that you won’t be able to clean on your own.
